StadiaCare played its part in last night’s successful UEFA women’s euro 2022 semi-final between England and Sweden at Bramall Lane, Sheffield.
England, who triumphed 4-0 in front of a capacity 30,000 crowd in South Yorkshire, have reached their first major final since 2009.
As the action unfolded on the pitch, behind the scenes StadiaCare worked with UEFA to take the commercial cleaning of a football stadium to the next level.
Sheffield United’s head of operations commented: “I want to thank the StadiaCare team personally for a job well done”.

“This is probably the cleanest our stadium has been in a long time. We recognise the commitment of the StadiaCare cleaning staff, who have gone above and beyond in helping towards a hugely successful event.”
“Most of the StadiaCare team didn’t finish until 10pm last night and were back in at 7am this morning getting ready for our first home league game of the season,” he added.
With over 100 UEFA full-time staff and volunteers in attendance, together with an additional 150 guests in the VIP area, it was an extremely busy night for StadiaCare.
Not only did UEFA request a 72-hour turnaround in delivering back a clean stadium, every 15 minutes there was a requirement for cleaners to undertake spot checks on the VIP toilets and the hospitality areas.
In addition, StadiaCare undertook extra duties in maintaining an internally and externally clean stadium, including the approach roads and car parking around the ground.
Colin Collins, contracts manager for StadiaCare said: “It has been an insight into international football, which has enabled us to work with both a secondary and a primary client at the same venue. Which brings added challenges.”
“When you consider there were 30,000 here last night and every fan basically drops at least one piece of litter, that’s a lot of rubbish at the end of the night.”
“In total, we removed about 450 bags of rubbish from just where the supporters sit.”
At StadiaCare, we understand that elite sports stadium cleaning is about far more than presentation. It supports public health, protects staff and visitor wellbeing, enhances the fan experience and helps ensure every venue remains safe, hygienic and welcoming.
At StadiaCare we are committed to playing our part in addressing the global climate crisis and, at the same time, work with football clubs to improve their own green accreditation
For many stadium operators, hitting staffing levels on matchdays is a constant headache. Yet, for every one of our StadiaCare clients, it’s never been an issue – in fact, we consistently maintain waiting lists of cleaning team members eager to work with us.
