Back in August 2020, Trading Standards in the UK challenged Zoono’s claim on the efficiency of its Microbe Shield product. In response Zoono removed its 30-day claim of longevity.
According to Zoono: “The sanitiser is compliant for use in the UK under the European Standard (EN) testing regime, however, there is no 30-day standard to uphold the business’ claim, which led to the description being withdrawn.”So the problem appears to be that there is no EN Standard to support a 30 longevity test.

With reference to the 30-day longevity claim, Zoono states that: “It is important to state that these were not misdescription. Highly professional laboratory tests have confirmed that such efficacy and longevity do exist.
“As will be appreciated, these issues focused rather on whether, unless clarified, some users may become complacent and rely on the full longevity potential without pursuing absolute best practice cleaning protocols as advised by Zoono.”
Zoono has also confirmed in a recent article that over the coming days and weeks, they will release more information on sanitiser results and case studies.
Also released this week is news that Microbe Shield has been successful in a trial across 72 touch points selected on 23 UK passenger trains. The touchpoints were treated between 8 and 30 days prior to testing and the test results showed zero COVID-19.
Zoono Group (ZNO) has reported positive results from recent testing of its Zoono Microbe Shield product. The testing was conducted by GTECH Strategies and an independent UKAS accredited test lab.
The 72 ‘hot’ touch-point areas were tested across 23 U.K. rail passenger trains. The ‘hot points’ were treated with Microbe Shield between eight to 30 days before testing had begun.
The testing did not detect COVID-19 and E.coli in all 72 tests and no detection of Staphylococcus in 70 of the 72 tests was found. The amount detected in the two tests was so low and still described as being ‘near sterile’.
